As the city enters into the final phase of the Parks Master Plan process, a final draft of the Parks Master Plan is now available for review. Planning Design Studio, the planning consultant on the project, has revised the earlier draft based on feedback from the project planning committee, the Parks and Historic Preservation Committee, City Council and residents.
Residents are encouraged to read the master plan, which includes improvements to existing facilities and proposals for new features, such as disc golf, trails, improved signage, a nature trail at Millennium Park and a water play feature at Beirne Park. The proposed renovations and new features were determined based on a needs analysis performed on the parks, as well as public input.
Planning Design Studio presented the Parks Master Plan draft to City Council during a City Council work session on Monday, August 12. The Parks Master Plan will be considered for adoption at a later City Council meeting and, once adopted, will act as a guide for city staff for the next 10 to 15 years, laying out a plan for priority renovations and future additions in city parks.
