Arbor Day Celebration planned in Creve Coeur on April 30

The City of Creve Coeur is hosting a free and fun-filled Arbor Day Celebration on Sunday, April 30, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Tappmeyer House in Millennium Park, 2 Barnes West Drive in Creve Coeur.

Hosted by the city’s Horticulture, Ecology and Beautification Committee, Arts Committee, Parks and Historic Preservation Committee, and Energy and Environment Committee, the Arbor Day Celebration will include a display of entries from the all-ages art contest. This family-friendly event also includes face painting, a craft activity, a plant swap, educational displays, and more. Free serviceberry saplings will be offered to attendees on a first-come, first-served basis, encouraging the planting of this beautiful native shrub throughout our community.

To participate in the art contest, themed Wonders of Nature, artists must send entries to Sharon Stott, City of Creve Coeur, 300 N. New Ballas Road, Creve Coeur, Missouri, 63141 by March 31, 2017. Entries may be any two-dimensional medium and must not exceed 9” x 12” (including mat board, if any). No framed art will be accepted. Art entries should include an attached, easily removable note card with the artist’s name, award category (pre-Kindergarten through Kindergarten, grade 1 through grade 2, grade 3 through grade 5, middle school, high school, adult, or senior), address and phone number. Only one entry per person, please. Winning artwork (1st, 2nd & 3rd Place) will be displayed at the Creve Coeur Government Center. All other entries can be picked up at the April 30 event between 3:00 and 3:30 p.m. With the exception of winning pieces, any artwork not picked up at the end of the show will not be returned by mail, but will be available for pick up at the Government Center at 300 N. New Ballas Road until June 30.

For more information, contact Sharon Stott, Assistant to the City Administrator, at or (314) 872-2516.
