The St. Louis region will be in the international spotlight next August when the 100th PGA Championship comes to the Bellerive Country Club. The best golfers in the world will be in town the week of August 6, including the field of 150 current players and every living former champion.
As the Bellerive Country Club boarders Creve Coeur, the city and police department will take part in arranging safety and traffic control matters. Planning meetings with local public safety and traffic officials will begin this Fall and the PGA will be reaching out to neighborhood trustees in the immediate area of the Championship to ensure that inconvenience to residents is mitigated as much as possible.
According to the 100th PGA Championship, over 61,000 people have already registered for tickets and more than 4,000 people have volunteered to help at the tournament. More than 200 countries will broadcast the event on TV.
The tournament has been held at Bellerive twice before, first in 1965 and later in 1992. Bellerive also hosted the Senior PGA Championship in 2013.
