ACTIVE SHOOTER DEFENSE CLASS

Based on current events, the Creve Coeur Police Department and the Creve Coeur Neighborhood Watch Association would like to announce an Active Shooter defense class that will be offered to all Creve Coeur residents.
In this class we will discuss:
- Current Active Shooter statistics and trends
- The RUN, HIDE, FIGHT methodology sanctioned by the Dept. of Homeland Security
- Measures that can be employed to reduce the effectiveness of an Active Shooter
- Guidelines and tips to provide emergency personnel and first responders

ADVANCED CITIZEN'S POLICE ACADEMY -Postponed Due to COVID-19

The Creve Coeur Police Department is accepting applications for Class #7 of the Advanced Citizens Police Academy. This academy is four weeks long and will meet every Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. All four classes will be held at different locations.

The Creve Coeur Police Department is accepting applications for Class #22 of the Citizens Police Academy. This academy is nine weeks long and will meet every Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. The classes will be held at the Creve Coeur Police Department and neighboring police agencies.

CREVE COEUR NIGHT OUT (Virtual)

Time: 6:00-8:00 p.m.
On October 6, 2020, the Creve Coeur Police Department, Creve Coeur Fire District, Neighborhood Watch Association and the Creve Coeur Joint Crime Prevention Partnership will have our annual Night Out against crime.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the police department cannot participate in any block parties or large public gatherings. However, residents can still participate by decorating their front yards, displaying anti-crime signs and posters, having a family-style picnic and turning their porch light on or replacing it with a blue light bulb.
The police department will roll out several informational videos on October 6th, 2020 featuring the Police Department, our equipment and community policing programs.
To bring the police and residents together, the police department will also be hosting a canned food drive two weeks leading up to Night Out to help support the area food banks which has seen an increased need since the pandemic has begun. Details will be provided later.

Document Shredding Event
Date: September 5, 2020Time: 9:00 a.m. to noon
Location: Rear Lot of the Creve Coeur Government Center, 300 N. New Ballas Rd.
The Creve Coeur Police Department, in collaboration with the Creve Coeur Joint Crime Prevention Partnership will be offering an opportunity for residents to safely destroy documents containing personal information. This event will be held in the rear parking lot of the Creve Coeur Government Center at 300 N. New Ballas Rd.
Document shredding services will be on a first come, first serve basis and limited to the capacity of the commercial-sized shredding truck. Items no larger than staples and paper clips may be attached to the papers. This event is for personal use only, no businesses please.

Drug Take-Back Event
Date: Saturday October 24, 2020Time: 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Location: The rear parking lot of the Creve Coeur Government Center, 300 N. New Ballas Rd.
The Creve Coeur Police Department, in collaboration with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), will be offering the public an opportunity to safely dispose of expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.
Collection will take place at the Creve Coeur Government Center located at 300 North New Ballas Rd. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.
Please note, for safety reasons, the DEA will only accept pills or patches. They cannot accept liquids, needles, or sharps. For information on how to dispose of sharps properly, visit the St. Louis County Recycling and Waste Management website at the following link.

The Creve Coeur Police Department would like to welcome you to stop by our station at 300 N. New Ballas Road on Tuesday, October 29th from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for Halloween treats. The Neighborhood Watch Association is teaming up with the Police Department to decorate police vehicles, and pass out treats to trick-or-treaters dressed in their creative costumes!

IDENTITY THEFT PREVENTION CLASS

The Creve Coeur Police Department recognizes that identity theft is becoming more prominent in today's world. Therefore, we have decided to team up with the Creve Coeur Joint Crime Prevention Partnership to offer a free class on how to prevent identity theft. This class will be co-instructed with a Creve Coeur Police Department expert Detective who specializes in "white collar" crimes.
Topics of discussion will include:
- Current statistics and trends used to steal one's identity
- Tips you should take to prevent yourself from becoming a victim of identity theft
- What steps you should take if your identity is stolen
PERSONAL SAFETY CLASS

The news is full of stories about people falling victim to burglaries, assaults, and even robbery. Everyone cringes when they hear these reports. Who hasn’t feared becoming one of these victims, or feared for their family’s safety?
Everyone needs to be intentionally alert and aware of their surroundings. Crime can be prevented and you can learn how, by attending this class. This free presentation will be held in the Government Center’s multipurpose room and handouts/pamphlets will be supplied by the Creve Coeur Neighborhood Watch Association.
This is a perfect opportunity to find out about crime trends in Creve Coeur and speak to an officer one-on-one about helping make our community a safer place to live. WOMEN'S SELF-DEFENSE COURSE Postponed

The Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) System is a program of realistic, self-defense tactics and techniques. It is a comprehensive course for women only that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training.
RAD is not a martial arts program. Our courses are taught by certified RAD instructors and are sponsored by the Creve Coeur Joint Crime Prevention Partnership. During this course, you will be provided a workbook/reference manual. This manual outlines the entire physical defense program for reference and continuous personal growth.
A criminal background check of all applicants will be completed, and waivers must be signed at the first class.
This program is meant for women 12 years of age and up and has an element of physical demand. AARP DRIVER SAFETY CLASS Cancelled

Location: Creve Coeur Police Department Training Room, 350 N. New Ballas Rd.
AARP has been offering a driver safety class since 1979 to help keep older drivers independent, safe and confident while on the road. This program provides information and skill development through a classroom setting and does not include an actual driving course.
The class curriculum focuses on areas where older drivers can benefit from additional training including:
• Roundabouts
• Pavement markings
• Stop sign compliance
• Red light running
• Safety issues such as speeding, properly wearing your seatbelt and turn-signal use.

The cost to attend this class is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members.
